Health considerations and Application process for Volunteers

As a volunteer, it is your responsibility to safeguard your own health during participating in a Hernia International mission. Before travel, visit the appropriate website to investigate required immunisation, prophylaxis and medical supplies you should take with you to combat common, acute conditions such as diarrhoeal illnesses.

? Required immunizations may include yellow fever, hepatitis B, and tetanus

? Recommended immunizations include hepatitis A, typhoid, measles, mumps, and rubella. The importance of cholera vaccination is debatable.

? Malaria prophylaxis is required in many countries, and strong mosquito repellant is recommended

A wealth of resources are listed on the Operation Giving Back website
